Today, September 22nd, Elder Scott passed away. When I heard he was in the hospital around the time of Elder Perry's passing, I actually felt happy for him that his mortal life may be coming to a close. His dear wife passed away in 1995 and he has missed her ever since. I knew he had hoped to be reunited with her...and today he has finally had the dream realized. What a blessing it is to know through the Gospel of Jesus Christ that families can be together forever and that life and trials here are but a small moment in the grand, eternal scope of our existence!
I'm so grateful that you have the opportunity, and have taken that opportunity, to share this Gospel with the people of Ghana so that they, too, can have this peace.
Love,
Mom
One of my favorite messages from Elder Scott:
Just when all seems to be going right, challenges often come in multiple doses simultaneously. When those trials are not consequences of your disobedience, they are evidence that the Lord feels you are prepared to grow more (see Proverbs 3:11-12). He therefore gives you experiences that stimulate growth, understanding, and compassion which polish you for your everlasting benefit. To get you from where you are to where He wants you to be requires a lot of stretching, and that generally entails discomfort and pain...Your Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son love you perfectly. They would not require you to experience a moment more of difficulty than is absolutely needed for your personal benefit or for that of those you love.
